Good Afternoon Immortals,
It's time again for a Species War!!!
Sign ups will be today and tomorrow with the war taking place on Saturday the 19th! We've got a few new things in the mix for this war.
The first is the Rotten Egg Donator item, they come in packs of 12 for $5. This item is used on yourself. When you need a break from the war, say to make the kids dinner or go to the bathroom or run to the store for more redbull a Rotten Egg will take you out of the war for 30 minutes at a time! This means you cannot score points for your team and you cannot be scored upon by the other team. You cannot stack these up and you can only use 1 an hour, so only 12 can be used by an individual in a 24 hour war. These will go on sale once the war begins.
Next, if you are not war eligible, meaning you did not sign up for the war or you have a Rotten Egg in use, you will not be able to Pummel anyone taking part in the Species War. Lastly, there will be a list of people taking part in the War on the Explore page. They will not be separated out by species, so you will still have to check for that but all war eligible members will be listed.
To sign up go to the Species War link on the Explore page. You have until 11:50pm gametime on Friday to sign up.
We hope you like the changes for this Species War. We like mixing it up like this to keep things fresh and interesting. Good Luck and may the best Species win!

Immortals -
We have exciting news! Today the Immortal Night team is launching a new online game called Immortal Day. We invite you all to check it out, it can be found at www.immortalday.com
We have posted a new blog on this subject under the IN Admin Blog section. We encourage everyone to read it over in its entirety. The blog explains the creation of this new game and why it was done. It also details specifically that Immortal Night is still great game and will continue to receive attention from the Admin staff as it always has. Please read the blog before asking any questions or jumping to conclusions about this new game. We assure you, Immortal Night is not going anywhere.

Hello Every one - Very sorry for all the downtime today. Servers can crash just as easily as home computers. Unfortunately today we had a crash (Two actually) which corrupted a small portion of our database. The most notable impact if this was corruption to the game-mail table. Although the mail system was the only area with real issues, the issue itself made it very difficult to repair without affecting the rest of the database. That’s ultimately why it took so long to get the game back online. In the end, I was able to obtain and re-import up-to-data database information for everything except the Mail system. So in the end, the only consequence aside from lost time today while the game was offline, was the loss of a portion of our mail system. Roughly speaking, any mails sent or received between players after 3:54am game-time this morning was lost. So if you sent a mail during this time to someone who was offline, you may have to re-send to them. This includes mails sent to staff. For example, 6 mails sent to me this morning are gone. As always, when you send a game mail, it shows you the most recent conversations with to other person, so this can help you see if anything from your conversation was lost. I got everything back up as quickly as possible, while also ensuring we lost as little data as possible.

Immortals - Just a quick rundown. Yes the server did crash this morning for unknown reasons. We were down for a while. Once we got the server back online there were some residual issues, mostly focused on the Mail system (which is currently disabled). I took a short break, but now intend to start trying to fix that problem. It will very likely lead to some connection errors, and if it really fights me, I may have to take the game offline for a short spell to address the situation. Obviously the mail system is important. Consider this your warning on that. FYI, Robbery and Mugging are currently shut down as well, to help some of those who were caught in a bad position due to the server issues. They will be re-activated later in the day.

Nikita here. For the past 5 or so hours, I've been trying to diagnose a problem with chat. I've had a couple others look at it as well, but have been unable to identify the issues. We do know that the issue is not related to the chat itself, but rather the connection between the chat server and the game server. Since I am exhausted and need some sleep, I've moved the chat program onto the game server. This has addressed the issue for the night.
It is possible this could add some lag to the game server. At the same time, maybe it will not. As you know, we have changed chat software recently, so it could be a non issue as the new software is a lot softer on the system. Just wanted to give a warning in that regard just incase. So you might hold off power training today as a precaution.

Early next month Immortal Night will be sending out another of our Quarterly Newsletters. As previously discussed, we have been working on improving the reliability of our email sends. So if you want a copy of the Q2 Newsletter, and have not verified your email from the Verification Page (Found under Explore), please do so. Otherwise we may not send the Newsletter out to you. This is especially important for Yahoo, Hotmail, Outlook, MSN, and Live.com email addresses. The Newsletter will also contain a special code to receive some additional Power Potions (in addition to the 15 you get for verifying your email). If you previously tried to verify your email but did not succeed, the system will now allow you to try again. Just make sure you have an accurate email address, which you can still login to, in the address box before you click the Verify My Email Link.

WARNING: Sometime around 7:15pm Game Time (Just 25 minutes from now), we are going to bring the server offline for approximately 5 minutes. We're going to do a quick server upgrade. DO NOT Try and Power Train until After we take the server offline and bring it back online, or do at your own risk. Make sure you're prepared for the game to shut down at that time. Thanks
